Gift for my Aunt

I've been close with my Aunt Jean for as long as I can remember.  When I was a kid I loved going to her house for sleepovers with my cousins and to just spend time with her.  She is the person who introduced me to cross stitch at 14 or 15 with a huge carousel horse pattern with blended threads and a million colours.  Needless to say, I never finished that project but my love of cross stitch has remained.

My aunt is always doing nice things for me, we talk on the phone a lot and email each other frequently too.  I decided I really wanted to make something for her to display this winter.  (I'm also sending her a cookbook we talked about last week and an iTunes card.)

Frosty Flakes by Little House Needleworks
Fabric:  30 ct.  Straw Linen by WDW
Fibre's:  as charted
Embellishments:  #02014 Mill Hill beads
Finished as an ornament

A view of the twisted cord I used for finishing.  (I used thick chipboard coasters from Michael's as my finishing form this time.)

View of the back.  I started using homemade iron on tags instead of stitching on the year and my initials on my projects.  Way faster and convenient too!

It's a dreary, rainy day here today.  Just how I like my winter days!  I'm making a pot of Loaded Baked Potato Soup.  Make this soup!!!!  It is so delicious.  One piece of advice, use really good quality bacon.  I didn't once and it was not a good result.

Have a great day.

A Finish and Sharing the Love

I finished this but I haven't posted a picture yet.  I succumbed to this fall sinus/cold thing that's been going around.  So far it's been a week and I'm sick of being sick!!!

Now on to "Sharing the Love."  I signed up for a Pay it Forward with Cole of Something for Me so if any of my lovely followers out there would like to sign up for the same from me, please leave a comment in this post.  It works like this:  I pick three people to Share the Love with and then you do the same.  The little gifts have to be sent within the year.

If you're interested in this PIF, tell me what designers and types of stitching you like, for example, pinkeeps, scissors fobs, etc.

Have a great day!!!

Whole Lotta Stitching Going On

I've been busy stitching a lot of little projects the last little while.  My mom talked me into stitching an ornament for 2 of her friends. One good thing happened while she was looking through all my JCS Ornament Issues. I now know what I'm stitching her for Christmas! I never, in a million years, would have thought she would like what she did.

Get Into the Spirit by Brittercup Designs:

I used a gray-fuzzy-metallic fibre that I had in my stash for the kitties hat instead of the ugly mustard yellow that was charted.  It's really fuzzy and adds a lot of dimension to the project.  I wasn't thrilled about stitching this at first but it's been fun.

I'm catching up with my LHN monthly ornaments too.  He's A Flake:

Snowy Pines:

Winter Sheep:

I'm also finish-finishing a Halloween stitch for HoE Halloween exchange.  I'm really excited to show you that one!  It's turning out super cute!

Happy Stitching!

I DO Remember How to Stitch

I FINALLY finished adding beads, my initials and the year to this ornamen, Fa La La by LHN:

I'm embarrased to say that it was at the "almost finished" state since January!  I also finished up Pear Tree by LHN.  I did most of the stitching while at my parents place the beginning of August.  It feels so great to get back into the swing of things!

I have He's a Flake by LHN kitted up and ready to go.  I think I'll start that today.

Happy Stitching!

*My new Blog header was designed by my son on Microsoft Paint, he's a whiz with that program*  :)

More Pouches & Some Stitching

Here's a few pics of what I've been working on:

Fa La La Ornament of the Month.  A few beads and my initials and the date and this will be ready to be finish finished!  Not sure how I'm going to make these into ornaments yet.  Time will tell.

Progress on LHN The Travelling Stitcher.  I'm doing this with The Travelling Stitcher SAL.  As you can see I don't have a lot done.  I'm using 8x11 Q-Snaps and I find it's slowing me down moving my hand from the front to the back of the fabric.  Oh well, I'm still enjoying it though!

Just Nan 12 Days of Christmas Whimzi
A Partridge in a Pear Tree for my Festive Ornament SAL

And yet more pencil pouches that my darling daughter so generously gave to her friends for a trip to Mexico.  Lovely of her to donate my time!  :D

Sun Shiny Morning

What's a kitty and a puppy to do when a window is open to the warm, fresh air and some (unusual for Vancouver in January) sunshine?  Bask in it of course!

Aren't they cute???  And photogenic!

I had a great day yesterday.  It was my very first Stitch 'n Bitch!  My girlfriend came over in the morning, we had homemade coffee cake (the best recipe ever) and coffee.  We then moved on to the stiching and bitching part of the day.  My girlfriend worked on Christmas Eve by The Prairie Schooler and some knitting and I worked on my L*K Exchange piece which is now ready to be finish finished!  I made grilled ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch along with pickles (a must with grilled cheese!) and veggies and dip.  Then more stitching!  We're definitely doing that again.

Last night I worked on LHN's Fa La La.

Not a lot of progress but I'm not stressing about it because I still haven't received Pear Tree or He's a Flake with my autoship.  It's fun to stitch though.

Happy Stitching!
