Blogger Advice Needed!

Good afternoon everyone!  I'm excited happy today... we're finally having some summer weather!

I have questions for you all and greatly appreciate any advice you offer!  Do you get those "comments" on your blog with all the Oriental characters?  What do you about it?  I already have the word verification on.  I don't really want to have to approve the comments of all of you who actually read my prattle!

Thanks in advance for your help!

You have two choices: Either moderate every comment or when you get a comment with the Oriental characters, go in and delete it.

I hate the bother of making people wait for my moderation but I hate the spam even more.

Turn the moderation on and we will get over it!

I get those also, turned on comment mod. and just delet those comments. I think the loyal readers of my blog understand and still comment :) Thankfully

Yep - turn on moderation and delete the crap - I see their nonsense on a lot of blog posts - I guess the blog owners haven't noticed it so they haven't deleted it! Dang spammers - I wish they'd use their powers (lol) for good, not EVIL!!

It wasn't until recently did I find out what this was about. I thought it was just someone who lived in the Orient and that I couldn't read their post. Then I found out from another blogger that it's the dots that come after that you can click on and find out what they are. Trust me, you don't want to know. I have word verification on my blog and still get those. Lately I have had a hard time deleteing them because the trash can has been missing most of the time after I have logged on. The woed verification hasn't detoured those that are bothering me.

I get all kinds of weird things on mine. I set my moderation for any posts over two weeks old. That has seemed to do the trick. I only receive an occasional one now and I can deal with that - I just go in and delete them.

I do the same as everyone else with turning on the comment moderation or I will send all the comments to my email and then I know when I get spam and delete it from my blog :) It's annoying isn't it!

Yes I get them too, despite using word verification, but I moderate my comments and delete them.

This is the link to the Where Bloggers Create post. Scroll down quite a way and on the right side of the blog it will say: Party Guests A-G. That's the first group of participants. You can click on the name and you'll go to their blog. A lot of folks, like me, have now posted a new entry since we posted the rooms. Look for the post dated June 18th - that's the day we were supppose to post about our rooms. Lots of eye candy - enjoy!

Luckely I haven't got any spam on my blog.

Hmmm. I've never gotten one of those (yet.....) and I don't have comment moderation. Hell, I even let anonymous people comment w/o moderation. I guess I've just been lucky? *knock on wood*

I've had them a couple of times even though I have word verification--but after over a year of blogging, I feel pretty lucky that it hasn't been worse.

I haven't had any, knock on wood. I know people are adverse to the word verification thingie so I figure I'll just go in and delete them as they come in, when and if it happens.

Thanks for your comment on my blog :-)

You wanted to know how I am going to finish finish the Twilight freebies. I'm thinking maybe some kind of bell pull (they're actually on the same piece of fabric), or perhaps some little cushions. My finishing skills are pretty limited.

I get the Asian links left on my blog too. I decided to moderate comments, that way they never actually get published (and it's easier than deleting them).

I had these on my old blog and I relented and turned on the moderation, but turned off the word verifcation. With moderation I did not think I needed the word verification too. I still got the chinese characters and have to delete them, but only I see them with the moderation on. Lets see how long they take to find my new site!

just delete them. If you get multiples, turn on moderation for a week & then turn off .... or, you can moderate on comments older than a week (or choose number of days)

that is my two cents worth
