Vegas, Baby!!!

I haven't posted since Saturday because I came down with a case of bronchitis. Therefore, I haven't got much stitching done this week either. I managed to finish the first giraffe on Mes Girafe. I'm going to add beads for the eyes and horns when I'm finished all the stitching.

On a high note DD and her grade 7 basketball team won first in their tournament yesterday and DD also came away with the MVP title! I was so excited and pleased. They played like a well oiled machine!

Tomorrow I'm off to meet DH in Vegas! Woo Hoo!!! He's down there for the Builder's Show so I can hardly wait. I love Vegas. I'm also excited to visit Stitcher's Paradise while I'm down there. It is supposed to be a fabulous shop. I'm going to stock up on overdyed fibres and fabrics when I go there. I've made myself a list.

Mes Girafe

Here is my current WIP, Mes Girafe by http://www.tomandlily.com/. DD is crazy for giraffes and after searching on Kreative Poppy, not only did we find giraffes, but we found giraffes in her favourite colours! So she sucked me into buying/downloading the chart and starting it right away. It's going great, it's a really fast stitch and fun too. The bottom picture is my WIP from the 16th and the top is what I finished yesterday. Only two more (and a bit) giraffes to go! With the border it's going to be 8 x 10. DD is totally thrilled with my progress so far.

Mini Biscornu Update

We'll I've finished all the stitching on my mini biscornu. Here is a picture of both sides before attempted to finish it. You can't see it very well but I added the year and my initials for prosperity. I date everything!
I started sewing the biscornu together and even got the nerve up to add a twisted cord hanger! I have to run out to my LNS (woo hoo!) tomorrow to get more floss for a tassel. I'm very happy how it's turning out! I think this is the beginning of my being hooked on smalls!

Weekend progress

Well, I didn't get my scissor fob finished this weekend though I did finish all the stitching! I did start (and complete one side) of the Holly Berries Mini Biscornu by Cherished Stitches in the 2008 JCS Ornament issue. This is my first biscornu and I was frightened of the finishing but after searching online I found some great sites with such detailed instructions and pictures of the process that I'm looking forward to it now!

I've also seen the sweet little biscornu designs by Barbara Ana and I think I'll try one. They are too cute!

Tomorrow I think it will be time for the scissor fob finishing once and for all! Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to post a picture of the finished project in a day or two.

WIP - Glad Tidings Scissor Fob

Here is the WIP on my sweet little scissor fob. I'm going to complete the stitching today and then attempt to finish the fob on the weekend! **Gulp** I'm very happy with the way it's turned out so far. I LOVE backstitching!

Lucky Me

Lucky me, I received a $100 gift certificate for my LNS for Christmas. So yesterday I headed down there to see what goodies I could add to my small but ever growing stash. I was lucky enough to find a few Prairie Schooler Santa charts for $1.oo each in the sale bin!!! I also picked up the chart 2000 Years Ago by Shepherd's Bush (among other things) and now I'm in the process of ordering the overdyed floss I need from one of my favourite online shops. Even with the exchange, it's worth to buy it from the States as I can only find it here from $3.00 - $3.50 a skein. I love the Internet!!!

I started the Glad Tidings fob kit from Shepherd's bush yesterday. It's the first time I've used overdyed threads and I'm loving it. The colours are gorgeous. I'm going to try to figure out how to post a picture of my WIP. I know I love seeing the photos on the stitching blogs I visit.

I've done it!

I decided to bite the bullet, go for broke, etc., etc., and join an exchange, a biscornu exchange to be exact (Hooked on Exchanging Too). Instead of trying to decide what project to start in the New Year, it's been decided for me! Now I just have to find a chart...and wait to hear that I can join!

I love the idea of smalls. I don't want to work on a project for months and months. In this vein, I've got my sewing machine booked for a tune up and I've ordered a mini drill for making twisted cord for embellishing ornaments and the like.

Blogging Newbie

Hi to those of you who find this blog! If you're anything like me, you got here searching for ANYTHING to do with cross stitch. I decided to create my own blog so I can make stitching friends, join my first stitch along and maybe start an exchange. I hope to "meet" many new friends soon.
